Passing

An Original Poem by Jim Walls

Summer nights when air is still,

With moon shining down on fragile life,

An invading wind comes blowing through the hills,

Bringing a new breath to ease a troubled man's strife.

Sitting beneath a tree in bloom,

The evening's creatures singing songs of sooth.

In all the world his spirit has not enough room.

In the dark there is found the truth.

Eyes staring up.

Stars shining down.

A single cloud like a razor's cut.

Blood of the night lies upon the ground.

As hours pass and stars journey,

Slumber comes and peace is nigh.

Angel's wings around his body.

Freedom found . . . Peace on high.
